Ahimsa is a project initiated and led by Slovenian percussionist Nino Mureškic(. In their own compositions the trio incorporates a rich and diverse palette of percussion from many world music traditions: djembe, cajon, darabukka, hang, frame drums, dunun, udu, kalimba, mbira, balafon, Indian tabla and many other sound sources. The musicians draw inspiration from different rhythmic traditions of the world and weave into their own compositions the traditional forms of African, Arabic, Balcan and Indian music. In the colorfulness of mixed time signatures, odd rhythms, polyrhythmic and improvised interplay one can sense the outstanding passion of group play. Compositions are marked by imagination, a mixture of fierce improvisation and organized and composed form, colorful sonority, humor and trance. .
