Tojana stankovic is vocalist and violinist from Serbia, currently living in Budapest, Hungary. she studied Ethnomusicology in conducting under Nice Fracile, PhD, at the Academy of Arts Novi Sad, Serbia.
After attendance of Mezei Szilard's "Leveg?-Vazduh-Air" workshop held at Novi Sad (Serbia) 2011, started working on free improvisation and further improvement of my improvisational skills.
Collaborated with many musicians, composers and artists, such as composer and viola player, Mezei Szilárd, composer and a cellist Márkos Albert, Iancu Dumitrescu, Ana-Maria Avram, Nikolaus Gerszewski, S?rés Zsolt (Ahad), Ivan ?konjevi?, etc. Currently playing and singing in Argo - rebetiko-free improvisation project based in Budapest; singing in Ro?enice (SRB) - folk music a cappella terzetto; playing in Dor - folk-free improvisation band, Hyperion Ensemble (INT); Mezei Szilard's Improvisers Orchestra, as well as Túl a Tiszán Innen Ensemble and Identity's Dream Quartet; Nikolaus Gerszewski's Korpovit Trio; duo with S?rés Zsolt (Ahad) etc.
From the year 2002 until 2007 she played in the Subotica based band Paniks, which performed in major festivals all over Europe.
The fields of her research interest include vocal and instrumental tradition of the Balcans, ethnochoreology, applied music and free improvisation.
